Ask Questions – Episode #114

You should ALWAYS have questions. Questions are how we learn. Finding the answer is how we grow. Answering questions is how we become better. When given the opportunity to ask questions, you should always ask because you never know when you may have a question and won’t have the opportunity to ask.Questions serve many purposes. They let others know you’re interested in who they are and what they do. They help you get to know more about the task at hand and what’s required of you. They keep you from making mistakes and making your work load more heavy.

I ran across a blog post (Zen Habits) with some of the questions from Episode #114. It helped inspire today’s post. Asking questions made me think of interviewing for a jobs. At the end of job interviews people typically ask, “Do you have any question?” We usually say, “No.” That’s the perfect opportunity to get the upper hand on other candidates. You can learn things about the company that others may not know and show them your genuine interest. When we are on dates, we either ramble or talk about what we know best… Ourselves. Use this opportunity to get to know them by asking questions. Make sure they aren’t evasive question. Timing is everything. Your first question shouldn’t be “How much money do you make?” Nor, should it be, “How old are you?” Lead into it by asking about high school and I’m sure you’ll be able to figure out their age.

Finally, challenge yourself by asking questions that stimulate and motivate you. Here are the 6 questions from Episode #114 that you can ask yourself to see if you’re getting the most out of life.

Who do I love, and what am I doing about it?
Am I pursuing my dream or is fear stopping me?
Am I doing something that matters?
What am I doing to help others?
Am I a good a person as I want to be?
How am I becoming better?

Ask yourself. Think about it.
