Three years ago, I spent a week Costa Rica, and was awestruck at how beautiful the countryside was. It was seeing rolling hills for the very first time. It was an amazing experience.
In June, I drove from Manassas, VA to Martinsville, VA
and once again I was in awe at the green rolling hills, farmland, and clear blue skies. It was breathtaking! I have driven this road hundreds of times, but I’ve never noticed just how beautiful Virginia can be. It was as if God were speaking to me saying, “Wake up, fool! Take a second to appreciate this beautiful planet I’ve provided. There’s beauty everywhere not just in Costa Rica
, you just have to look around. Now, eyes back on the road, there’s a truck coming.”
There’s a national park north above Winston-Salem called Pilot Mountain. It’s located in Pilot Mountain, NC. I have also driven this road dozens of times, but tend to overlook this beautiful point. It’s a perfect example of a local sight that we don’t fully appreciate.
We look far and wide for beautiful things and inspiration, but tend to overlook the obvious. Sometimes the most beautiful things are right under our nose. There’s an old saying that goes, “If it were a snake it would have bitten you.” 🙂
Take a look around and appreciate the beautiful things before it’s too late.
