Alexander Graham Bell
We are all blessed with unique abilities. Some of us have a great sense of direction. Some of us were born with a natural ability to be thoughtful. Some of us don’t need coffee to energize us in the morning. I recently had an epiphany! I can’t do it all! Profound, huh? I have specific talents that I know I do well and things that I cannot. I have my hands in a lot of different projects and I’m doing reasonably well. My goal is not to do “reasonably well.” My goal is to do GREAT! And there’s no way that I can do GREAT with 8 or 9 different projects going on. Something’s got to give. I’ve got to focus.
Some of us can naturally juggle 4 or 5 things at once. I have realized that I’m not one of those people. When an actor/actress shoots a movie, the director wants their total attention. You don’t see Denzel Washington working on 5 movies at once. He may sit down for an interview every now and then, but he’s only working on one major project at a time.
Have you ever felt like you have a ton of great ideas, but none of them ever come true? Focus on one, complete it, get it up and running, and then move on to the next one. That’s my plan. I feel like I’ve been moving in slow motion because I’m only inching forward with all of my projects. I can’t be the Lead Guidance Counselor, Head Football Coach, and Polemarch (President) of my Fraternity. Nor can I start a Non-Profit Organization, create 3 Episodes of BbetterTV (per week), and exercise regularly. Meanwhile, spend time with my fiancé, keeping in regular contact with friends and family, and efficiently balance a check book. Not happening. Just think if children or a dog was added to the mix? Oh, I almost forgot that I’m help PLAN MY WEDDING! Something has got to go! (SN: And the wedding isn’t one of them. LOL.).
Are you focusing? If not, what are you going to let go? I’m 100% in on this voyage to betterment. Are you coming with me? Let’s become better, together.
