It’s just like football minus the grass, the ball, and the… okay, it’s not just like football. Even though I’m not accustomed to hockey, it was still a pretty exciting event. It was a cold Tuesday night in Raleigh and the crowd was small due to the snow and ice, but it was a great night to experience the 2006 Stanley Cup Champions. The icing on the cake was the hurricanes winning in overtime and of course the FIGHTS! It’s interesting to watch a team sport where you can actually get away with fighting. This wasn’t my first hockey game and it definitely won’t be my last.
BbetterTV is all about trying new things and going outside of your comfort zone. This was one of my many attempts to try new things in the New Year. A very important lesson was learned on this night. Sarah and I were in route to the game and realized we only had $6 cash in our pockets. We figured we’d be okay since we already had tickets. We pulled up to the parking lot and realize that it cost $10 to park! I wanted to turn around and find an ATM, but Sarah suggested that we just give it a try. “Let’s just see what happens,” she says. We pull up and I say, “We’ve only got $6. I completely forgot that we had to pay for parking.” He replies, “Tonight is your lucky night. I’m not going to charge you.” That was just the words I needed to hear. Then we end up paying $4 for a freaking bottle of water! The moral of the story is that it never hurts to try. People can only respond with a “yes” or “no”.
Life is full of surprises. I encourage you to try new things. Something interesting is always bound to happen on this ride to becoming better.
